Wiggle It Out for Charity!

TRB alums Tony Lucca and Brian Fechino have teamed back up for a good cause. The pair joins The BoatCast to talk about the upcoming release of their single, Wiggle It Out, which is featured on Earth Angel’s Wings Vol. 1, a compilation album that benefits Children’s Hospital Colorado. The project was the brainchild of Brian and Jan Allen. Besides Tony, Brian reached out to other members of the the Rock Boat Family that he knew would be up for the cause (there’s that F word again). The album also features Steve Everett, Clee Laster (of Simplified), Meaghan Farrell, Andrew Leahey, J.R. Moore, Keaton Simons, and Andy Suzuki & The Method - as well as Rock by the Sea alums Shannon LaBrie and Anna Rose.

The Krobaths’ first show ever featured TRB veteran Steve Everett - and have since featured a handful of TRB artists (next up will be Meaghan Farrell August 28th, 2022). The Krobaths host because they love live music and want to support those producing original music. They have a policy where all proceeds go to the featured artists. Tracy and Norm help give some sound advice (excuse the pun) for those interested in hosting a house show of their own - as they have learned a lot over the years (not to mention Norm stepped up his lighting game).

“It was supposed to be my day off and I was having a full on dance party on the sports court… I had not downloaded the app so nobody could message me - and apparently Sixthman had been trying to find me… I walk into Sixthman headquarters and she [Sixthman Jen] just said ‘How do you feel about the pool deck at 11:30am?’… OF COURSE… but then it was a matter of rounding up the troops who all thought they had off that day”

The BoatCast's first artist interviewee, Meaghan Farrell returns to the podcast nearly two years to the date of her March 2020 interview. In that time, Meaghan had truly grown into her own - and owned every stage on TRB XXI. Meaghan retells the “behind the scenes” details on fateful day when Boaters were unable to get off the boat in the Bahamas due to weather conditions. Sixthman asked her to play the pool deck - and her response was an easy YES but rounding up the troops (several of which had just gone to bed in anticipation of a day off) was more of a challenge.

She reflects that she had invested in a full band for The Boat and how her gut instincts paid off.

She talks playing out on the road with fellow boaters such as: Red Wanting Blue, Tony Lucca, Will Hoge. Meaghan and The BoatCast discuss November's upcoming Texified Jam Fest and more!

BoatCast Mark is admittedly a huge fan of Ali’s novels and recalls listening along with his wife to the Audible version of “You and Me and Us”. David Wimbish of The Collection, had not heard of The Rock Boat prior to TRB XXI. He admittedly looked forward to being on a cruise headed to Jamaica - but quickly found out that the most important aspect of the Boat is its community. David was completely blown away by the interactions had with fans who truly value music. The guys of the Boatcast share with David how word had quickly spread amongst Boaters about The Collection’s incredible stage presence and authenticity - and how that is continuing in the community for those who weren’t even on the Boat (ie BoatCast Mark’s family loves The Collection now)

David wrote the band’s newest single, “Won’t Stop Yet” in his cabin on the first night of TRB XXI - and if you haven’t heard it, it is an absolute gem. David treats listeners to a live rendition of the single during this episode.

"Who is Parris Mitchell (Jack Weppler)"?

Three-Time Rock Boater, Jack Weppler joins the BoatCast to discuss his Parris Mitchell project. Jack has been a recent staple of TRB, playing with his bands Night Without Cars & SCR (Sir Cadian Rhythm).

While on TRB XXI, Jack treated fans to a one-of-a-kind experience, in which he wrote a song using words volunteered from the audience. Jack opens up about his this creative process and the making of his recent release, “Superpower” and hints at his upcoming single, “I Never Said I’m Perfect” set to release April 22nd.

Jack talks about his appreciation of TRB fans and is hopeful that Sixthman can help him find his way back onto The Boat in the near future.

TRB XXII will be the first Rock Boat appearance for Cincinnati quartet The Heavy Hours, but are already feeling the support from the TRB family.

Every year, fans find a new favorite band and the guys of the BoatCast and we are certain that news of their talent will soon be spreading like Wildfire once we set sail. The band talks about collaboration in their writing process music and their recent release, Gardens, which has been four years in the making. Jon Tyler Wiley, of Jon Tyler Wiley & His Virginia Choir, joins The BoatCast to talk all things Rock Boat and his new release, The Longing.

Jon reminisces the wild ride he had with Melodime on TRB and after TRB XX wondering if it was going to be his last boat. He recalls the joy of getting the call from Trae to be on TRB XXI. He talks the excitement of bringing his longtime friends from The Virginia Choir into the TRB community - and recalls watching Switchfoot with Thomas, his high school bandmate who used to cover Switchfoot songs - and the excitement of getting called up on stage by Jon Foreman to sing Hey Jude.

Jon talks his excitement about the upcoming Texafied JamFest (tickets just went on sale on 4/1 - reminder that tickets sell out fast, but one way to secure them and support a great cause are to sponsor the event.
