"Who is Drew Holcomb?"

If you’re going to go on The Boat, Dive in and be part of the scene” reflects three time TRB singer-songwriter and frequent Cayamo artist, Drew Holcomb, on his Sixthman experience. Drew has risen the ranks since TRBXXI to Billboard Chart Topper and thanks the support of the Rock Boat community. He has many fond memories from the boats, from collaboration with fellow artists, to connecting to fans, to finding out that he and wife, Ellie were expecting while on The Boat.

Indeed Boaters, your holiday gift came early this year with Drew’s gem of an interview. Speaking of presents, if you haven’t yet rented his Neighborly Christmas Special, you truly can’t afford to miss it, check it out here!!!

"Who is Dave Furukawa?"

“2013 was probably the worst year of my family’s life… my business partner and friend, Chris Webb nominated my wife and I for a scholarship on The Rock Boat… and we actually were selected …. we got on the Boat and the rest is history…. but the magic of The Boat is the reason I keep on coming… I have to really thank The Rock Boat for saving me - It set me right!”

Hear Dave Furukawa (aka “Dave the Blind Guy”) relive his favorite memories from his 7 Rock Boats. He tells his side of the epic start to a close friendship with Patrick Murphy. He talks crowd surfing, Headphone Disco, and lifelong friends he’s met on the boat. Dave’s lucky number is 21 and he shares that the best yet to come on the next boat, TRB XXI!

"Who is Will Byington"

“Epic - Seriously the best vacation a human could ever take - Spring break for Adults - Everything you could imagine it was - and it was summer camp meets sleepover fun…” reflects TRB stalwart, Will Byington, on his first Rock Boat in 2002.

We all know Will as the personable photographer on-board capturing the precious moments of the “worlds greatest floating music festival” - but did you know that his first three Rock Boats were as part of Cowboy Mouth’s team? It was in 2005 that Will reached out to Sixthman to see if they needed a photographer… and the rest is history.

This Chicago-based photographer and lover of music provides listeners with unique snapshots of TRB History - from the early days of the Boat to the seamless production of more recent years. Like Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark, Will is not officially part of Sixthman, but expresses his tremendous respect for their team and their “Every passenger is a VIP” philosophy. When he first got the job, Andy Levine instructed Will to “Capture the Experience” and I think any boater who has checked out the photos that Will stays up editing late night, would agree that his shots do just that.

If you are looking for the perfect last minute holiday gift for a special Rock Boater, We’d encourage you to check out his online shop for some prints!

"Who is Sixthman Kalie"

Kalie Martin (a.k.a. Sixthman Kalie) joins Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark to discuss her dream job with Sixthman. Sixthman Kalie is taking over the reins of Sixthman Jen but shows in this podcast that she is the perfect person for the job - and in typical Kalie fashion, she credits her fellow Sixthman Warriors and Ninjas for how well the experience runs. Kalie shares that her first Sixthman experience was as a passenger, which is probably why she understands the heart of boaters - and has been working with her Sixthman team to keep Rock Boat artists and Boaters connected durning the Pandemic.

"Who are Lisa and Jürgen Boese?"

Lisa and Jürgen Boese are an amazing pair Rock Boat veterans who join The BoatCast from Germany. “If we are in the US we visit bands and friends in their homes and if musicians from the US tour in Germany, they usually come to our home and play in our living room…” reflects Jürgen Boese. Lisa and Jürgen talk everything Rock Boat, from Top performances to cabin shows to hosting an elevator party to RECAP VIDEOS!!!!

We at the BoatCast have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable podcasts we have done to date - it felt like we were just standing on the pool deck before a sail away show as we connected with these two for the first time!

"Who is Steve Everett?"

“Sister Hazel put out their first record and that’s how the relationship began - that was my favorite band growing up…reflects Steve Everett on his path to joining the Rock Boat family. He credits the relationships he established with Rock Boaters while opening up Sister Hazel to his Soundcheck competition success. This three-time TRB artist joins Christopher Rhoad and BoatCast Mark to relieve his favorite Rock Boat memories from The Boat, including Lovesweat, singing on Melodime sets, sailing away from port listening to Michael Franti (and more).

Stay tuned later this year for new music by Steve Everett!!!

"Who is Mike McFadden (of Animal Years)?

…It really didn’t settle in as far as how committed the fans are until the first show after we got announced… immediately people walked up to us and were like ‘We’re Rock Boaters’ and every show after that Rock Boaters were showing up” reflects Mike McFadden, lead singer of Animal Years.

Recorded shortly after the Animal Years addition to the TRB XXI lineup, McFadden joins Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark to talk all things Rock Boat. He credits his connections to a Rock Boat veteran, Krissie Callahan, who had been telling him and his band for years about the Boat - and credits Scott Terry to giving him the inside scoop on the Boat from an artist’s perspective.

While TRBXX was McFadden’s first boat, he has been making a huge impact on the TRB community with his live performances during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, this singer’s “voice” extends beyond the stage, in his fight against racial injustice and he is excited for more inclusion on The Boat.

"Who is Patrick Murphy (of Gaelic Storm)?"

Nine-time Rock Boater, Patrick Murphy of Gaelic Storm joins Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark to talk all things Rock Boat. Sure, Patrick recently broke both legs jumping off of a balcony, but he’s still able to walk listeners through his favorite TRB memories.  Patrick opens up about getting introduced to the Boat and the initial fears that his Irish/Celtic rock might not fit in on the boat - I know, pretty ironic, as he has transformed into an icon of The Rock Boat family. Relive Patrick’s favorite memories of the boat, including finding an authentic local watering hole in Mexico, making a splash during his pool deck show, and his chance encounter with Dave Furukawa, “aka Dave the Blind Guy”.
