"Who is David Ryan Harris?"

“The Sixthman staff has been very good about curating Boats and making sure the acts all go together - and that the level of musicianship and showmanship is really, really high so halfway through the [first] cruise, I realized this is really special and a unique experience - it’s like a festival at sea… and quite frankly was really important to my career” reflects 8-time TRB artist, David Ryan Harris.

David joins Christopher Rhoad and BoatCast Mark to talk all things Rock Boat, and while he was most recently on TRB XIX, he was able to offer wealth of knowledge on the early years of TRB (including that boat that played the new Avril Lavigne album on repeat). DRH is no stranger to collaboration - perhaps you’ve heard him on Where the Light is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles, seen him jump on stage with Santana, or watched YouTube clips of him performing with acts such as Chris Stapleton - and talks the spirit of collaboration on The Boat.

During the pandemic, David has been busy connecting with his fans through live video hang sessions in conjunction with Topeka. If you’re interested, meet up with him at: https://topeka.live/artist/drh.

"Who are Nathan Dickerson and Bobby Paver (of Motherfolk)?"

Motherfolk joined the Rock Boat Family in 2020 after being voted onto TRB XX through the Sixthman Soundcheck. “It definitely made Rock Boat really special knowing these people voted for you to be there… Even before we got on the Boat, we had a tour in November right after we got confirmed and at literally every single show on that tour, there were Rock Boaters showing up saying ‘We voted for you and cant wait to see you on the boat’ so already I knew it was a bigger community than I realized…”. reflect Nathan Dickerson and Bobby Paver (of Motherfolk).

Listen as Nathan and Bobby relive their favorite Rock Boat memories with Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark … Satchels of Budweiser, cabin show magic, dogs of Honduras, playing in the atrium, and how NOT to load gear onto the Boat.

"Who are Patrick Fetkowitz and Rob Griffith (of Bronze Radio Return)?"

If you’ve been on a Cruise, you don’t know what this is like. If you’ve been to a music festival, you don’t know what this is like. It’s this weird merging of the two that you can’t really describe unless you do it…“ reflects Rob Griffith (drummer of Bronze Radio Return) about the unique nature of The Rock Boat.

Bandmate, Patrick “Packy” Fetkowitz (guitar) recalls their walk-on show on TRBXII as “the game changer for us… that’s what etched the rest of the history that we’ve had with Sixthman.” They go on to share their admiration for Sixthman including their ability to pivot with unforeseen circumstances, maintaining a good balance between returning artists & emerging artists, and how receptive they are to the guests’ feedback. This respect is clearly mutual, as the band has been on 5 boats in the last 8 years (though several of the band members sailed on TRBXI as well as guests). "Who is Jeremiah Shirk?"

Eight-time Boater, Jeremiah Shirk, brings some incredible TRB stories in this episode. He shares his wild introduction to The Rock Boat family. It all started with meeting the Rosenberrys at a Red Wanting Blue lunchtime concert on a radio station and getting the invite to The Dayton Downtown Revival Music Festival. “Everyone kept talking about the rock boat and I was like ok crazies, calm down…. I ended up in a random hotel room singing Heart’s ‘Alone’ and that was my first experience to the Rock Boat lore and three weeks later I ended up signing up for my first rock boat. Ultimately that thing changed my life, I found great friends and found rock boat, and I don’t know how I lived prior to finding this damn thing!”

Hear the origin of Jeremiah’s trademark sailaway “Clam Jam” shirt, his pre-TRB Norwegian cruise experience, meeting best friends by the trashcan on 13, and phone-free philosophy. He talks his favorite Boat moments, including Woodstock night with Brandi Carlile, RWB and Friends, and TRBXX elevator party with friend Meaghan Farrell.

We had so much fun that we are going to do an encore with Jeremiah (speaking of encores, did someone just yell 19 more?)

"Who is Dan Rodriguez?"

“I didnt realize just how big the culture was about finding new music within the community - they walk in and want to love you… It’s been a good community to get to know…” reflects two-time TRB artist, Dan Rodriguez. He credits the Rock Boat Community to helping grow his fan base and adds that many Boaters hosted house concert shows following his last Boat. Oh yeah, and his goal of becoming friends with Drew Holcomb on the boat? Success!

Brian shares the early years of the boat, including the very first first jam session on TRB along with Ryan Newell of Sister Hazel. Brian recognizes the impact that the Rock Boat Family has on the community of artists, noting, “ The connections that artists make with fans outlast the Rock Boat” and acknowledges the importance of the House Show movement when smaller clubs started to close. "Who is Will Byington"

“Epic - Seriously the best vacation a human could ever take - Spring break for Adults - Everything you could imagine it was - and it was summer camp meets sleepover fun…” reflects TRB stalwart, Will Byington, on his first Rock Boat in 2002.

We all know Will as the personable photographer on-board capturing the precious moments of the “worlds greatest floating music festival” - but did you know that his first three Rock Boats were as part of Cowboy Mouth’s team? It was in 2005 that Will reached out to Sixthman to see if they needed a photographer… and the rest is history.

This Chicago-based photographer and lover of music provides listeners with unique snapshots of TRB History - from the early days of the Boat to the seamless production of more recent years. Like Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark, Will is not officially part of Sixthman, but expresses his tremendous respect for their team and their “Every passenger is a VIP” philosophy. When he first got the job, Andy Levine instructed Will to “Capture the Experience” and I think any boater who has checked out the photos that Will stays up editing late night, would agree that his shots do just that.

If you are looking for the perfect last minute holiday gift for a special Rock Boater, We’d encourage you to check out his online shop for some prints!

"Who is Sixthman Kalie"

Kalie Martin (a.k.a. Sixthman Kalie) joins Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark to discuss her dream job with Sixthman. Sixthman Kalie is taking over the reins of Sixthman Jen but shows in this podcast that she is the perfect person for the job - and in typical Kalie fashion, she credits her fellow Sixthman Warriors and Ninjas for how well the experience runs. Kalie shares that her first Sixthman experience was as a passenger, which is probably why she understands the heart of boaters - and has been working with her Sixthman team to keep Rock Boat artists and Boaters connected durning the Pandemic.
